The scientific focus of the National Museum

This initiative hopes to generate new insight and knowledge in culture and climatic change. It will also shed light on global networks by studying Northern cultures from the Ice Age hunters to the present day populations in the cold regions.

The Northern Worlds consists of more than 20 projects, directed by leading researchers from all departments at the Danish National Museum. The projects are organised in 3 groups, so the networks can be build up with in these groups.

The private foundation, Augustinus Fonden, has been the main financial source for The Northern Worlds.

Nationalmuseets forskningsinitiativ "Nordlige Verdener" rummer en lang række selvstændige projekter.
