The fascinating universe of the Nordic mythology was until recently more or less unknow except from the medieval written sources. The actual interaction with the people at it's time was unknown. New archaeological excavations has shown us remains of the rituals connected to the prechristian society , and allowed us to start understanding how the prechristian society was organized in the 1st century a.d.

Based on analyses of already excisting archaeological material and excavation data in a combination with new excavations on specific large farms from Iron Age and Viking Age the aim for the project is to contrieve a better understanding of the prechristian society in the 1st century a.d.

The research project is founded by the A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formaal with 11,2 million DKK
