Runic Inscriptions in Greenland

We know of around 100 runic inscriptions from Norse material, but the inscriptions have never been studied as a whole. Four questions are central for the project: The role of the inscriptions, the social dimension, the orthography or dialects and the Greenlandic tradition of writing. The meaning of the inscriptions, their functional change over time will likewise be treated.
